Soros-Supported Prosecutors Face Removal In Austin and Oakland
Alameda County and Travis County Prosecutors’ Inaction Draws Community Pushback
Arlington, VA – George Soros’ network has spent over $40 million electing liberal prosecutors who refuse to enforce our laws, but residents in Austin, Texas, and Oakland, California, are pushing back by working to recall these so-called prosecutors.
“These far-left prosecutors are so extreme and progressive that residents in Alameda County and Travis County have had enough with their criminal first, soft on-crime actions,” said Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares. “Our philosophy is simple – promote prosecutors who enforce the law. We look forward to seeing these progressive prosecutors removed as our country moves back to a legal system where prosecutors prioritize the safety of their communities.”
BACKGROUND …
Recall of Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price Qualifies for a Vote. “The recall campaign against Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price submitted enough valid signatures to qualify for an election, the Alameda County Registrar of Voters announced Monday. The Alameda County Board of Supervisors will decide when to hold a recall election. Save Alameda for Everyone, or SAFE, submitted 123,374 signatures supporting the recall to the registrar’s office on March 4. SAFE began organizing its campaign less than six months after Price took office and claims the progressive reforms Price is carrying out are decreasing public safety.” (PBS, 04/15/24)
Travis County DA José Garza faces removal under new Texas law. “Travis County District Attorney José Garza is the target of a removal campaign under a new Texas law that would decrease the powers elected prosecutors can exercise in their jurisdiction. … Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 17 into law in 2023, which would allow the courts to remove district attorneys from office for misconduct if they don’t prosecute certain crimes. The law took effect in September.” (Spectrum News, 04/24/24)
Protecting Americans Action Fund (PAAF), led by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares and former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr, is fighting back through an effort to elect prosecutors who will enforce our laws. PAAF has won over 50% of the races in which they have been involved, including wins in Alleghany County (Pittsburgh), Maricopa County (Phoenix), and Loudoun County (outside of Washington, D.C.).
