Protecting Americans Action Fund Releases Statement In Support Of Legislation Regarding Liberal Prosecutors Who Refuse To Enforce Our Laws
Arlington, VA – Today, Jessica Curtis, the President of Protecting Americans Action Fund, released the following statement in support of legislation in Georgia that would discipline or remove prosecutors who deliberately refuse to enforce our laws or engage in misconduct.
“Protecting Americans Action Fund proudly supports this legislation in Georgia that allows a commission to replace an activist prosecutor who refuses to prosecute our laws. A prosecutor should never simultaneously play the role of a defense attorney, and that’s why we are committed to electing individuals who will enforce our laws against those who engage in criminal behavior.”
Protecting Americans Action Fund is led by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares. The organization’s advisory board includes a wide range of individuals committed to national public safety issues.
BACKGROUND
Georgia Senate passes bill to discipline prosecutors. “Georgia senators are backing a bill that would create a commission to discipline or remove prosecutors, which supporters say would provide a needed corrective for district attorneys who engage in misconduct. … Sen. Randy Robertson, the Cataula Republican sponsoring the bill, said it’s aimed at ‘somebody who says they can choose, not based on evidence, but on how they feel about their political leanings, who they can prosecute.’ … At least 20 district attorneys now say they support the proposal, arguing it won’t hurt a prosecutor’s ability to use discretion in which cases to bring.” (The Associated Press, 03/02/23)
