Arlington, VA – Earlier today, Cook County prosecutor Kim Foxx, who was supported financially by George Soros, announced that she would not seek re-election.  Protecting Americans Action Fund Chairman, Attorney General Jason Miyares released the following statement.

“George Soros spent $2 million electing Kim Foxx, and not only did he get an activist prosecutor who refused to enforce our laws, but Foxx’s soft-on-crime policies were too extreme for the most liberal city in the Midwest.  With crime out of control in Chicago, we need a prosecutor who will enforce our laws and stand with law enforcement instead of playing patty cake with criminals and implementing dangerous policies like cashless bail.”

BACKGROUND …

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx won’t run for re-election in 2024.  “Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced Tuesday she won’t be running for re-election next year. … After taking office, she established a new threshold for prosecutors to seek felony charges in retail theft cases, and oversaw a mass expungement of low-level marijuana convictions ahead of the legalization of recreational marijuana in Illinois. She also was one of few state’s attorneys in Illinois who supported a criminal justice reform law that aims to end cash bail across the state, but has been temporarily put on hold due to court challenges.” (CBS News, 04/25/23

Another billionaire weighs in on state’s attorney’s race: George Soros gives $2M to group backing Foxx.  “A political action committee founded by liberal billionaire philanthropist George Soros kicked $2 million to a committee supporting Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx in her re-election bid against three Democratic primary challengers.  A mega donor to Democrats and liberal causes, the hedge fund operator’s Democracy PAC transferred $2 million into the Illinois Justice and Public Safety PAC on Wednesday.” (The Chicago Sun-Times, 02/20/20)
