Mike Bailey is the General Counsel and Director of Legal Reform Programs at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, and a partner in the law firm Tully Bailey LLP.
He is the former United States Attorney for the District of Arizona where he led one of the largest U.S. Attorney’s offices in the country with a staff of 350 people, including 175 Assistant U.S. Attorneys. In light of Arizona’s 350 miles of border with Mexico and its 22 federally recognized Indian tribes, the district’s responsibilities exceeded those of the typical U.S. Attorney’s office and included the prosecution of violent crimes on tribal lands, and enforcement of border specific crimes like drug and human trafficking. While U.S. Attorney, Bailey served on the White Collar, Border Enforcement, and Native American Issues subcommittees of the AGAC.
Prior to his appointment as U.S. Attorney, Bailey served as the Chief Deputy of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. As the sole direct report to the Arizona Attorney General, Bailey supervised and directed, through seven divisions, a government law office with 1,100 employees, including 475 practicing attorneys, and an annual budget of $120 million.
As a practicing attorney, Bailey had a 25-year criminal law practice including time as a state court major felony prosecutor during which he handled 25 homicide cases and 200 sex crimes cases.
Bailey earned his JD from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, and his BA from Westmont College.
