Arlington, VA – Late last week, an aide to U.S. Senator Katie Boyd Britt was the victim of an armed carjacking just blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
As The Washington Post reports:
“A staff member for a U.S. senator was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night on Capitol Hill, and the senator denounced what she called ‘out of control’ crime in the District. A staff member in the office of Sen. Katie Boyd Britt (R-Ala.) had just parked near 12th and E Streets NE when a man ‘pointed a black handgun to her face,’ according to a police report. … The attack is one of several involving a member of Congress or congressional staff member in the District in recent months.” (The Washington Post, 10/20/23)
“Washington was once a shining city on a hill, but liberal leaders have refused to enforce our laws, and now our Senators, Congressmen, and their aides have been victims to armed carjackings and other violent crimes just blocks from the U.S. Capitol,” said Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares. “As the Chairman of Protecting Americans Action Fund, we work to elect prosecutors, not social workers, who will enforce our laws, which reduces crime and will make our communities safe again.”
